What You Need to Know About Atopic Dermatitis

Atopic dermatitis, an inflammatory skin disease, usually begins in infancy and early childhood. This skin condition, which can be caused by genetic factors or triggered by certain allergens, and can even recur throughout life, has been on the rise in recent years.

According to dermatologists, there are three types of atopy, called "dermatitis":

  • Atopic dermatitis (Atopic eczema)
  • Irritant contact dermatitis (Irritation eczema)
  • Allergic Contact Dermatitis (Allergic eczema)

Atopic dermatitis, the most important symptoms of which include dry skin and intense itching, also causes problems such as sleep disturbances and fatigue.

In infants and young children, symptoms are more common on the face, elbows, and inner knees. In older children/teenagers and adults, it typically appears on the hands, neck, inner elbows, back of the knees, and ankles. The best way to control this dermatological condition, which manifests as dry, red, dandruff-like, or oozing lesions, is to follow a doctor's prescribed treatment and utilize the right dermocosmetic products to support this treatment.

Because the disease is chronic and prone to recurrence, it's important to avoid stress, maintain a healthy diet, and be selective in using skin health and beauty products. Research shows that fragrance-free, colorless, and appropriately formulated moisturizers should be used daily to prevent skin dryness.

It is of great importance to contact institutions and organizations working in this field to get help for atopic dermatitis and improve the quality of life.
